Contemporary works on paper: Catherine de Saugy’s Ondes series.
Between 2024 and 2025, Catherine de Saugy developed the Ondes series, a body of contemporary abstract works on paper exploring fluidity, light, and movement. Created in formats 42 × 59 cm and 59 × 42 cm, these compositions embody an intimate inquiry in which the humble, fragile substance of paper becomes the testing ground for a lyrical, poetic abstraction.
These works on paper convey an inner vibration. Overlays and transparencies create visual effects akin to a breath or a sound wave, as if the line were capturing an invisible energy. Color unfolds with restraint—sometimes subtle, sometimes contrasting—punctuating the intensity of the gesture.
Here, Catherine de Saugy continues her dialogue between traditional supports and artistic innovation. After panoramic frescoes, variations under Plexiglas, and photographic explorations, Ondes signals a return to essentials: the work on paper as a space of freedom—accessible, direct, and profoundly human.
With this series, the artist offers a meditation on lightness, fluidity, and the passage of time. Each abstract work on paper becomes a metaphor for fragility and continuity—a visual fragment where memory, breath, and movement converge.

At the dawn of our civilization writing, is the sign of our intelligence and need of sharing, as well as the most personal expression of ourselves.Beyond space and time, Calligraphy expresses to me the joy of living on this planet, under the splendor of the sky.
I propose mine, life trajectories, arrows of freedom and emotions, bits of intuition, a musical and cosmic calligraphy.
